Understanding Skin Tags and 10 Ways to Treat Them | Your Stylish Life

Jeff Montenegro · August 19, 2017 ·

Skin tags – a common skin condition that anyone can develop over time. Though they can’t hurt you, they can be unsightly and annoying.

They’re unsightly as well as annoying, so they need to go. There are a number of natural remedies that can be used to treat skin tags.

What Are Skin Tags?

They go by many names, such as: acrochordon, cutaneous papilloma, cutaneous tag, fibroepithelial polyp, fibroma molluscum, fibroma pendulum, papilloma colli, soft fibroma, and Templeton skin tag.And though skin tags are considered to be harmless, they can often be a sign of other health problems.

Essentially, skin tags are benign tumors, and most commonly develop in areas where there is skin-to-skin contact and friction like the eyelid, armpit, groin, under the breasts, and neck.

It’s not known what causes skin tags, however here are common factors, for example being overweight and being diabetic, is associated with their development.

How to Naturally Treat Skin Tags

You can either freeze them off, cut off, or tie off with a thread until they drop off. These methods have two things in common: they’re expensive and uncomfortable. Thankfully, there are a number of home remedies that can be used to remove skin tags, that are inexpensive, pain free, and most importantly – effective.

Considered to be one of the most potent natural remedies, you can use oregano oil for a variety of health issues. Oregano oil has an extremely potent antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antimelanomic, anti-oxidative properties, thanks to phenolic terpenoid components like arvacrol, thymol and p-cymene.

Just mix a few drops of oregano essential oil with a few drops of coconut oil and apply it to the skin tags 3 times a day. It may take some time to work, but eventually the tags will change colors (red to purple to black), and eventually simply fall off.

An ancient Chinese remedy, tea tree oil has been used for centuries as a powerful antibacterial, antifungal, and antiseptic compound.

It’s effective on warts and skin tags as well. It dries them from the inside out. Take a cotton ball and dampen it with a little water, add a few drops of tea tree oil, and massage it into your skin where skin tags are present. Repeat the treatment 3 times a day, until the skin tag withers up and falls off.

This treatment doesn’t require a trip to the store. The milky substance, found in dandelion stems, is great for treating skin tags, warts, moles, and even eczema.

Pick a dandelion flower and stem. Squeeze the stem until you see the milky liquid in the stem coming out. Just use the stem to apply the dandelion juice to your skin tag. Repeat 3 times a day until the skin tags falls off. It really is that simple.
