According to Ayurveda, the regular consummation of warm boiled water strengthens your immune system, gives strength and energy. In our region, but also in the East, the usage of hot drinking water is granted. In Russia, Ukraine and similar countries, you can always find warm boiled water in a samovar. You normally drink this warm water instead of cold water.
In countries such as India, China, Japan , hot water and other hot beverages are also common. Drinking warm boiled water has been a part of the tradition in the Middle and the Far East for thousands of years. If people have followed and kept this tradition from generation to generation, we can assume that it is useful for some reason.
Why you need to boil the water
Boiling the drinking water can be very beneficial for you. First of all, by boiling the water you are destroying all the microorganisms and therefore promote the deposition of chemical impurities from the water. If you boil ordinary tap water and let it boil for 5 minutes, after the cooling a sludge of harmful substances can be found on the bottom of the container. So, the first reason why you need to boil your drinking water is the microbiological and chemical quality of water.
This purpose of boiling the water is more subtle, but equally important. The water is the solvent in numerous biochemical reactions that are constantly happening in your body. This is why is important that you drink clean water.
The common name for all metabolic processes in the body is a pitta dosha. The literal translation of the word pitta is acid, and the word itself suggests that it has something to do with digestion and biochemical processes. According to Ayurveda, pitta dosha is composed of fire and water. A special part of this principle is Agni, which translated from Sanskrit means fire. Agni is the fire of the digestive system and is responsible for the digestion of all that you eat, drink, smell, hear, see, and touch. Agni transforms everything that comes to your mind and body.
By boiling the water you bring Agni into it
When you drink boiled water, your inner Agni has to digest all the bacteria, parasites, mold spores that the water contains. Weakness of the Agni, leads to many diseases. That’s why many Westerners get dysentery as soon as they arrive in India. On the other hand, if the external Agni destroy these unwanted substances, the disease does not occur at all.
Now it is clear why the water (and food) need to be cooked. Boiled water has excess Agni and hence is more easily digested in the body and that way stimulates the immune system.
Regular use of boiled water strengthens the immune system, and it improves your strength and energy levels. This is especially important for people who are already sick.
When does boiled water help?
In general it can be said that all diseases are due to the accumulation of body toxins. When theAgni is strong, the useful components of the food are absorbed and participate in normal tissue development and the useless are eliminated through the bowel and the urine. However, when the Agni is weak, part of food is not absorbed, nor it is ejected. It is left to rot in the intestines and that creates a sticky substance odor, called ama. The accumulation of ama in different parts of the body is the basis of each disease.
Therefore Ayurveda for various diseases recommends the use of hot, boiled water. This is best seen in the cases of elevated body temperature. In acute conditions, when high temperature is due to a cold or a flu, Ayurveda recommends that you drink hot, boiled water, which was prepared in relation half to half. This means that you need to boil a liter of water until it becomes half a liter, and then pour it in a thermos. If the patient takes one to two sips of this water, every half an hour, the fever will soon pass.
Of course, the water may not be too hot that it burns your tongue, but it needs to be hot just like a tea. Regular use of boiled water, which is boiled until 75 percent of the initial amount is left, is recommended for all chronic and stubborn diseases such as asthma, arthritis, colitis, migraine, sinusitis, angina and other heart conditions, cellulite, obesity and others.
This recipe will help you in some deep treatments
On the other hand, if you have a chronic fever, this indicates that your ama is located deep in the tissues and it has put down roots. Then we recommend you this famous Ayurveda recipe called shadangpania. This means that you need to boil the water until two-fifths of the total initial amount remained.
By boiling the water reduce a liter of water to 0.4 liters, and give it to the patient to drink it. In this therapy, the patient drinks nothing but pure water, and the treatment needs to last up to three days, depending on the strength of the patient. This therapy should be conducted only under medical supervision.
Strong Agni leads to an excellent health
Agni is the basis of the autoimmune system and it devours all the harmful substances that are ready to compromise your body, such as, microorganisms, toxins, body wastes, emotion, climate effects and more. Every person who has strong Agni, will resistany disease. On the other hand, weak Agni leads to accumulation of harmful substances in the body and then to many acute and chronic diseases. Therefore it is crucial that you strengthen your Agni and secure yourself a long life and optimum health.
