Have you ever considered how many people in this world go every day without access to clean water sources? One billion. Yes, there are one billion people living without potable water!
In addition, roughly about half of the world’s poorsuffer from a waterborne disease or parasite at some point in their lives.Six thousand people (mostly children), die from consuming unsafe drinking water every single day.Safe water intervention is the only way to get clean water, what I consider a basic human right, into the hands of the world’s poorest people.
LifeStraw -a rather simple invention. It’s a 25 centimeters long plastic pipe filter that costs only a couple dollars, though the price is currently under review. The LifeStraw can convert contaminated water into safe drinking water. It can filter out a variety of pathogens, like the incredibly deadly cryptosporidiosis, and parasites, like the painful Guinea worm.
It can filter 700 liters of drinking water effectively, and can kill diseases that cause diarrhea and other infections like typhoid and Cholera, as well as Shigella, Salmonella, Enterrococus, Staphylococcus Aureus and E.Coli. Tested by multiple independent laboratories, LifeStraw has been shown to work.
Simple, yet absolutely amazing, LifeStraw can have a tremendous impact on a person’s life. With just a few bucks, every single person would have access to safe, clean drinking water!
