Whether you buy a conventional or organic foods, it is important that all the fresh ingredients that you enter into your home are nicely washed before you eat them.
Baking soda is a natural solution for cleaning that will help you get rid of pesticides, bacteria, fungi and viruses. This substance is naturally produced in your body in the buffer molecules, so it is not harmful for consuming and will not alter the taste of the food.
Non-organic products
For cleaning chemical residues, you need to prepare a mixture of 1/4 cup of vinegar, 1 tablespoon of raw organic apple cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.
Pour this mixture into a spray bottle and spray the products using this mixture. Let them stay like that for about 5 minutes, then rinse them nicely using clean water.
Vegetables with a thick crust
When it comes to vegetables which have thick rind, such as melon, you must know that you need to wash those vegetables really good, because during the cutting the bacteria can easily transfer from the bark into the flesh of the vegetable.
In order to clean the bark from these bacteria, you need to add a few tablespoons of baking soda in a cup or two of water.
Now you need to pour the liquid into a spray bottle, and let it rest for about 3-5 minutes.
Then you need to use this mixture to clean the bark of the vegetable.
As soon as you do that you need to rinse the vegetables under cold water.
