Have you ever made a medicinal plant syrup? With their help, you can solve many health problems, and you can make them in a few simple steps.
These syrups are good for your respiratory system, especially if you’re making thyme syrup. There are two methods of making them: cold and hot.
You may be surprised about using apple vinegar in the process of making these syrups, but it all makes sense.Tinctures are usually made with alcohol, but to avoid this, both for savings and because of the alcohol, some people make a vinegar tincture. They are not as strong as the alcoholic tincture and are used in slightly larger quantities, they can’t pull the beneficial effects of plants, such as alcohol, but extraction of minerals and vitamins is faster.
The Cold Method
Fill a small jar half way (or three-quarters of the jar) with herbs (dried or fresh), and pour the sauce with honey (1/3 jar) and add the vinegar (2/3 jar) – if you are uncomfortable with vinegar, you can add more honey.
Mix it well and cover the jar with a lid. Stir the mixture every day for two weeks. After that, strain the herbs, pour the syrup into jars and store them in a cool place or refrigerator.
The Hot Method
This method is faster than the cold one. Mix the plants and vinegar in a pot and put it on the stove to simmer 10-20 minutes, strain them, and add the honey to the mixture while still warm. And that’s it. You can keep the syrup in the fridge.
An excellent combination against colds are rosemary and sage. Take a handful of rosemary and sage leaves, 1/3 jar of honey and 2/3 apple cider, and make the syrup using the cool method. As soon as you feel that you would be able to catch a cold or you already have symptoms of a cold take 1 tablespoon of syrup per day.
Which Plants To Use
Rosemary is good for circulation, digestion and nerves. (Avoid it during pregnancy).
Sage is antibacterial and antiviral, but it’s not recommended for pregnant women and nursing mothers.
Thyme is perfect for problems with the respiratory organs, with coughing, bronchitis, etc. Oregano has similar effects.
A very effective syrup against colds and flu is made by combining ginger and garlic (finely chopped).
Before using this syrup, consult with your doctor.
