Many experts from the American Cancer Society claim that by the end of 2016 there will be approximately 246,660 new cases of invasive breast cancer among the American women. Also they state that around 40,450 of those women will probably die from breast cancer. At this point you should know that breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among women. What we are trying to say is that about 1 in 8 women in the U.S. is most likely to develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime.
Breast cancer awareness goes far beyond knowing the statistics. This means that you also need to be active in preventing the occurrence of cancer and being able to recognize the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. By knowing how to read these signs you will be able to detect the cancer in its early phase and therefore the treatment will be a lot easier and successful.

Even though moles are usually connected with a higher risk of skin cancer, they can sometimes be associated with breast cancer as well. One study followed 89,902 women aged 40-65 years old, and noted their medical records over a period of 18 years. At the beginning of the study the number of moles each woman had was documented. Now comes the shocking part, during this study, 5,956 of the women were diagnosed with breast cancer.
According to the researchers, who conducted this study, women who had the most moles out of the group had a 13% higher risk of breast cancer than women who had no moles. What we are trying to say is that, if you notice a new mole or any type of change in an existing mole, go and see your doctor immediately.
First let us tell you that a cancer that starts in one area is known as the primary cancer. Now if some of the cancer cells break away from the primary cancer and they move on to another part of the body, then they can form another tumor, and this tumor is called secondary cancer. At this point you should know that breast cancer can spread to the lungs. This cancer can be easily detected by a prolonged cough or hoarseness.
Also you should know that the cancer spreads to the lungs in 60-70% of women who become terminally ill from breast cancer. Dry cough and shortness of breath are the most common symptoms of this type of cancer.
In addition you should know that breast cancer can cause hormonal changes that dry out the urethra. This will make it difficult for you to control the bladder, which is widely known as incontinence. Leaking urine during activities such as coughing, laughing, sneezing or exercising, experiencing sudden and urgent needs to urinate, and urination that takes longer than usual are the most common signs of this type of cancer. Therefore if you notice any of these symptoms in you, make an appointment with your doctor right away.
The most common symptom in breast cancer patients and survivors is the fatigue. At this point you should know that fatigue is also present before the diagnosis. This fatigue that appears due to the cancer cannot be alleviated by sleep or rest. Also this fatigue is especially very severe and often associated with high levels of distress, unrelated to amount of exertion. In addition you should know that this fatigue is often accompanied by some other symptoms, such as pain, sleep disturbance and depression. According to many experts, this fatigue is caused by an imbalance of chemicals in the body which the cancer creates.
This is a very common medical problem. Namely 8 out of 10 people experience this kind of pain at some point in their lives. In some cases, back pain can be a sign that breast cancer tumors are forming. In cases where the back pain is associated with breast cancer, you may feel like pressure on the ribs and the spine, or pain in the upper back that feels like it’s coming from the bones. At this point you need to visit your doctor immediately, because this could also be a sign that the cancer has spread to the spine.
