Cough accompanied by ejection of phlegm, is particularly frequent in the winter months and occurs due to viral and bacterial infections. For effective treatment of cough and mucus or secretions, it’s important to determine the cause and characteristics of the cough, and whether it is acute or chronic, night or day, productive or dry. Cough is often accompanied by phlegm and secretions. Various herbs to treat this problem have been used for centuries.
Bay Leaf
Prepare 3 dried bay leaves leaf and boil them in a quarter liter of water. Cover them and let them stand for ten minutes. Sweeten the tea with a little honey and add a teaspoon of lemon juice.
This tea is a well-known home remedy effective in ejecting phlegm in bronchitis, and you’ll need to drink it until the regression of the disease. You can drink it two or three times a day (one cup).
Honey And Coffee
A mixture of honey and coffee is effective in the treatment of cough and is a great cure for phlegm.
Mix a tablespoon of honey, with a teaspoon of instant coffee, and whisk it until you get a creamy mass. Eat this balm and drink a glass of lukewarm water. Do this three times a day, while the cough is persistent.
Orange
Wash an orange and cut it into cubes along with its peels. Place the cubes in a bowl, add a liter of water and two tablespoons of sugar. Cook it over low heat for half an hour until it thickens. Drink one spoonful of the syrup every time you feel the urge to cough.
Olive Oil
Try to treat phlegm with this folk remedy: Mix 2 tablespoons of olive oil with two tablespoons of lemon juice, two tablespoons of water and a spoon of honey. Mix it gently and drink it morning and evening.
Onions
Fry an onion in fat, and while it is still warm, place it as a lining on the chest. This coating will soften hard phlegm.
Horseradish And Leek
A mixture of grated horseradish and the same amount of honey acts as preventive for asthma attacks, and dissolves and expels phlegm.
Leek helps with this problem as well. Chop it finely and boil it in milk. When cool, sweeten it with honey and mix it well. Taken a couple of spoons a day.
Linden Tea
Linden tea is an excellent natural remedy for expelling mucus from the airways. If you use it for several days, it alleviates cough and speeds up the discharge of deposited secretions.

Pour a cup of boiling water over a tablespoon of dried nettle leaves, leave it for 10 minutes and strain it. Drink two cups of unsweetened tea (morning and evening) a day. You can add honey to sweeten it.
Oat Straw Bath
This bath helps to release the phlegm. It helps with apathy, fatigue, irritability etc.
Pour 4 liters of water over 2 kg of oat straws and boil them for 30 minutes. Strain the tea, and your bath is ready. After leaving the bath, lie down in bed, and after one hour, take a walk in the fresh air. Do this procedure for several weeks and expect improvement.

In the fight against phlegm, drink plenty of fluids. Water, tea, chicken soup, lemonade, but avoid alcoholic beverages. Hibiscus roots, plantain, Iceland lichen are also very effective.
