We all want to keep our lemons in a bowl on the table in the kitchen or in the living room because, they’re simply beautiful. However, keeping them like this isn’t the best way to keep them. The chefs at Cook’s Illustrated gave the best way to store lemons.
We rarely keep lemons in our fridge. We often keep them in our kitchen. This is a mistake.
After seven days on room temperature, the lemon hardens. It also loses some of its precious value. However, there is a solution and it is very simple.
To extend their life, as well as their palatability, juiciness, tenderness for up to a month, it’s best to store them in the refrigerator, in a sealed plastic bag or zip bag. The closed plastic bag is the key here.
So unless you intend to use all the lemons within 5 days, store them this way.
