When Do You Go To Bed? – Less Than 8 Hours Of Sleep Equals 25 Bad Consequences | Your Stylish Life

Jeff Montenegro · February 28, 2018 ·

We all know how important it is to get a good night’s sleep. But, many don’t realize that there are really bad consequences when we don’t get enough sleep. Today, we’ll give you 25 consequences caused by the lack of sleep.

Irritability

A team of Israeli scientists noted that the complaints of irritability are common with sleep-deprived people.

Headaches

Although scientists still don’t know exactly why the lack of sleep causes headaches, there is a connection that doctors noticed more than a century ago. However, little sleep can cause migraines as well.

Learning problems

Short-term memory is a key component of learning.According to several researches the lack of sleep (in test subjects) reduced the ability to remember words that were shown to them the day before.

Weight gain

Sleepy people have unbalanced hormones that are associated with increased appetite. That is why they feel the need for high-calorie foods.

Heart disease

After test subjects were kept awake for 88 hours, scientists found that their blood pressure rose. Even those subjects who slept four hours during the night, had higher heart rate compared to those who slept eight hours.

Slow motion

Your reaction time is seriously prolonged when you haven’t got enough sleep.

Infections

Prolonged lack of sleep, and even one sleepless night can disrupt the body’s natural defenses against microorganisms.

Diminished mental capacity when making decisions

If you big changes are in front of you, make sure to have a good night’s sleep before you make those decisions.

Impaired vision

Lack of sleep is associated with tunnel vision and double vision. The longer you’re awake, the more visual errors you’ll encounter.

Excessive urine production

When people sleep, the body slows down the normal production of urine. This is why most people don’t need to urinate during the night as they need to during the day. When a person lacks sleep, the usual slowdown in the production of urine doesn’t occur.Scientists call it “excess nocturnal urine production”.

Greater resistance to vaccines

Vaccines act to stimulate the body to produce antibodies against a certain virus. But if a person lacks sleep, the immune system is compromised and doesn’t work so well.

Speech problems

Due to lack of sleep, you can easily sound like an idiot, just like when you drink too much alcohol.

Colds

If you’re wondering why you are constantly sick and pick up almost every virus – the reason is probably the lack of sleep. People who don’t get enough sleep are likely to get sick more often, than those who sleep enough.
