You Use this on a Daily Basis but Did you Know that it Can Cause Cancer?

According to some experts people who use mouthwash more than three times a day are at great risk of developing cancer of the mouth.

Researchers say that people who rinse their mouths with these products more than three times a day, are more likely to develop cancer of the mouth and throat.

David Conway, a physician with the Glasgow School of Dentistry, said that people should not use mouthwash routinely and to pay more attention to brushing and floss.

Poor oral hygiene is one of the reasons why people are more likely to use mouthwash.

This research was supported by the elderly in 2009 and it was conducted in Australia. The research was conducted in order to provide sufficient evidence that mouthwashes are containing alcohol, so that they contribute to the increased risk of diabetes because they allow substances that cause cancer to enter through the mucous membrane of the mouth easily in our body.

The latest study was published in the Journal of Oral Oncology and the sample were 1,962 people with cancer as well as 1,993 healthy people in 13 centers in 9 countries.

People with poor oral hygiene, especially those with dentures and gums that bleed, were at greater risk.

Dr. Conway said: “I would not advise the routine use of mouthwashes,” and added: “There are states in which physicians prescribe any liquid when comes to bad flow of saliva or some drug use.”

“For the oral hygiene is very important the proper and regular brushing of your teeth with toothpaste that contains fluoride and flossing, combined with regular dental care dentist,” said Conway.

People who often use mouthwash are doing that to mask the smell of the tobacco or the alcohol and to hide their poor oral hygiene.

According to the experts the mouthwash should be used according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
