We all know that there are two holes in almost every pair of shoes, especially sneakers, but few of us use them and generally know what they are actually for.
No, they are not for the air to pass through them and refresh the shoes when walking but for something entirely different.
So, if not for ventilation, and not even for aesthetics, then what are they for?
